October 26th, 2009

The market is slightly up in the premarket. The SPY could be in a trading range between 108 and 110. If SPY breaks either way, go with that direction.

  1. I just shorted AMZN. gonna let it ride for awhile and see how it settles out in next half hour or so. Maybe it goes to 150 today:)

  2. Anyone follow BIDU?

    They report earnings today.

  3. Matt, are you still short? I'm short via SPXU today and wrong again (so far)

  4. Last Friday one of my posts mentioned SPY will drop down to 108.20 and rebounded back up to 109.50. Well, SPY did went below it 108.20 on Friday. Now SPY is trying to hit 109.50 area.

  8. GCL, how did you like that slaughter of Michigan?

And I can't believe Iowa came back like that to beat Michigan St.

  9. Under missed opportunities --- WBMD.

I had it alerted for 34.50 could have got 34.70 easy, but volume was so light I just KNEW it would pullback.

Ahhhh, another one will come down the road, but maybe I'll follow in case it turns around and comeback a little.

  10. Iowa is a good team, but I don't think it is a great team. 4 of the wins are 3 points or less. It is not a blow out win. Yes, I know Iowa beat Penn State on the road.

Phillies vs Yankees in the World Series.

I live in New Jersey in between Pennsylvania and New York. I can go either games.

  11. Matt, I did not like being long Friday, as I was fighting the tape and hate being long at this point in market anyway. Today I am short getting spanked, but agree with your assessment. This market is F'd up. Still short AMZN (appears to be losing steam) and long SPXU. Looks like I need a bit of help from the dollar this afternoon.

  12. The VIX will increase now. The last couple days the volatility of the market jumped. Nowadays you can see the market move up and down around 100 points.

  13. no, do not follow BIDU, but SOHU getting smacked today

    ReplyDelete
  14. good sign, GLD trying to roll over.

    ReplyDelete
  15. CHV and XOM super strong today. if you are short, need oil and majors to roll over. watching VIX.X and dollar.

  16. major banks very weak. worried they may rally this afternoon after b. frank reveals his "too big to fail" b.s.

  17. Oh yeah. Nice reversal. would suck to be long now. let's get below 1071 SnP. F the bulls.

  21. was that the bottom today?? or just the beginning? need to break 1071

    ReplyDelete
  22. I covered 1/3 of SPXU. gonna see how things play out

    ReplyDelete
  23. SPY will bounce back up to 108.50 from here.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am ready for AMZN to take a dump. will cover at 123.4

    ReplyDelete
  25. gcl, so we are gonna bounce of the 20 dma?

    ReplyDelete
  26. JDT, it could be. I believe the market will probably close where it's opened today. It means you have your up at the beginning and now you have your down after it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If we close below 1071, there will be more down side to market, imo

    ReplyDelete
  28. buying a bit of AEM here at 65.78

    ReplyDelete
  29. we're in the middle of a down channel

    stay short IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Can not believe the strength in AMZN

    ReplyDelete
  31. The gold stocks retrieved back down to the gap level. I will wait a day or 2 to see what it will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  32. added to my AEM. yep, s. mantra, AMZN is at an all time high. back in the day (nasdaq bubble) when a stock hit an all time high, it would go ballistic and run and run. and the next day more of the same, and on and on and on. So, it does not surprise me. AMZN has always been a wall street darling. I am short a bit, but should not be fighting that trend

    ReplyDelete
  33. sold half my AEM. action in amzn is what happens when mo-mo players and fed money printing come together.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Talking about AMZN. Lots of investors shorted that stock. They covered higher and then they shorted it again. The cycle is repeated. That is why AMZN is keep on going higher. Wait for blow off top. For example, wait until a day when AMZN gap up in the morning like $5 or more, then you can short it. This morning someone mentioned in the CNBC that AMZN could go up to $150.

    ReplyDelete
  35. AMZN a perfect example of investor bahavior. Nothing to do with earnings.

    ReplyDelete
  36. covered a bit of AMZN on this spike down. gcl, i agree, re: AMZN

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm out of AMZN. probably should go long the damn thing, but do not have the balls.

    ReplyDelete
  38. fwiw, i am out of my SPXU as well

    ReplyDelete
  39. After this week, majority of the stocks will have reported its earning. Next week in a new month, November, will the market make it on its own without reported earning? Let the market run it by itself.

    ReplyDelete
  40. AMZN, these earnings are very good for a large cap retailer
EPS growth 67% and Sales growth 28%
atleast that is the reason i went long on friday open at 110.9, so far its looking good, will take partial profits at close today..

    ReplyDelete
  41. earnings "spin" was an excuse from market makers to take AMZN higher. 28% sales growth with a P/E north 50 is no reason or justificatiion for price of stock. earnings were great, but stock movement is more about price action, short squeeze, and momentum players. good for you for going long, just be sure you uderstand why the trade is working. fyi, after i covered my short today, I went long 100 shares at 123.1 and sold for a whole 1.25 scalp:)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Here comes the end of the day rally.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My guess, Amazon will peak tomorrow at 133 and will be an easy short.

    ReplyDelete
  44. closed most of the amzn position, too big of a risk
