I was really expecting to make one or more points on this WLP trade, but not panning out yet. Still expecting a short squeeze on this health care bill bs. For the short term, the bill is factored in, imo
Yeah, today action on the market is out of characters.
1. Dropped big in the morning. 2. Recovered from the big drop by lunch time. 3. Did nothing and stablized for an hour or so. 4. Sharp turns up and down. 5. Retested the high again.
I suppose markets are waiting for earnings reports. but to wait for INTC is pathetic, as that company is a totally joke...especially when it comes to manipulating and massaging their numbers. so, why anyone cares, don't ask me.
AAPL and MSFT may have bigger part of QQQQ, semi and networking have bigger representation in the NASDAQ. That is why INTC and CSCO earning reports normally make big moves in the markets.
With futures raising with INTC report, there are rumors about raising interst rates. GS closed the gap in the afterhours, but afterhours doesnot count. Will see what brings tomorrow. Nothing to do here, it is pouring in Bay Area.
had a small SPXU position from pre-market and sold 75% right here. Since I sold, we will probably sell off all day. lol
ReplyDeleteI'm out. gonna sit tight and see how things develope
ReplyDeleteSo far it is orderly fashion sell off. At least SPY is making lower low and lower high from yesterday.
ReplyDeletelong JNJ at 60.88 with tight stop
ReplyDeleteWatch GS carefully. If GS breaks 185 mark, you can expect all the financial stocks will go down with it.
ReplyDeletelon WLP at 46.55 with stop at 46.19
ReplyDeleteShort GS here 186. and put a stop at 187
ReplyDeletecan't sell short 100 shares of UPRO @ market (as opposed to going long SPXU).
ReplyDeleteDid it last week.. but it's not happening today.
Tried 2 times on this last pop.
(could be the software)...
BAS, maybe the brokerage didn't have any more shares to borrow to short.
ReplyDeleteThe market had successfully close the morning gap.
ReplyDeleteLong SPXU at 42.61. large volume spike on UUP, so looking for dollar to strengthen into close.
ReplyDeleteadding to my short GS 186.50, stop 187
ReplyDeleteGCL, i think we get your 200 pts today.
ReplyDeleteS. Mantra, riding your coat tails on GS trade. Short 500 shares at 186.35 with stop at 187.05
ReplyDeleteXOM rolling over
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time that the market opened negatively, went lower, went back up to where its opened and bounced back down.
ReplyDeleteThe last week action were totally opposite. Is it a sign of reversal?
stopped out of WLP, but bought back with stop at 45.8. Looking for a short squeeze now that vote is more clear on health care.
ReplyDeleteJDT,
ReplyDeleteIf we dont get stopped out, there is good chance we will see 184 and 181 in a day.
gotta make it thru lunch (or 1:00 pm central time)
ReplyDeleteThe volume of QQQQ is very light, but SPY volume is average.

ReplyDeletedaily, 60 , 30 minutes looks weak. Spiked up little on lower time frames. Will stick to my stop loss numbers on GS.
ReplyDeletelooks like we may have survived the lunch time shim sham spike. we shall see for sure as day goes on
ReplyDeletethe dollar and gold are not cooperating with my short positions.
ReplyDeleteinteresting.....

This morning the market was volatile. After lunch the market is stable as it can be. Weird.
ReplyDeletecalled bulltrap
ReplyDeletehmm?? dollar hitting lows and SPY selling off. has not done that in a long time
ReplyDeletei think there is something coming that will take the dollar and stock market lower.
ReplyDeleteBringing my mental stop loss lower to 186.6
ReplyDelete90 minutes to go for closing time.
ReplyDeleteWhere will SPY close at?
A. Above 108.
B. Between 107.50 to 108.
C. Between 107 to 107.50.
D. Below 107.
DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
ReplyDeletedamn, stopped out of half my GS at 86.82
ReplyDeletehere comes the short squeeze in WLP, finally.
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm all over the map, but just shorted GS at 186.79 with a stop at 187.07
ReplyDeleteWhy are you guys short the GS? I don't understand.
ReplyDeleteThere is a gap this morning.
because when trading with your emotions, you occasionally get lucky....
ReplyDeletemeredith whitney downgraded this morning.
gcl, I agree. i am a asking for trouble. the time to short it is after is fills the gap. but it was worth a try ( or two)
ReplyDeletewell, what an f'd up trading day. market is all over. I closed my JNJ and WLP trades, stopped out of GS and am long SPXU from earlier today.
ReplyDeletehmm, I thought we were going to finish strong near the highs...

ReplyDeletewell, I flatted the day (made a few hundred bucks), but gave back my gains from this morning. could be worse. live to trade another day.
ReplyDeleteAAPL and MSFT may have bigger part of QQQQ, semi and networking have bigger representation in the NASDAQ. That is why INTC and CSCO earning reports normally make big moves in the markets.
ReplyDeleteSPY and QQQQ closed just a tad up from where its opened. I have to say today is most ridiculous trading day. I don't know if there is a name for it.
ReplyDeleteoptions burn day
ReplyDeleteafter hours rocking!

INTC opened AH 21.9. Going down the same path as others lately like YUM AA.
